News Release

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Don't forget to register for BioCrossroads’ first Frameworx session for 2015 on February 18 from 8:00-10 a.m. at D’Amore in Indianapolis – The Future of the Physician Innovator.

Clinical innovation, enabled by interactions between physician innovators and industry, has been critical to many important discoveries leading to improved patient care. Due to the rising concerns around conflicts of interest and resulting practices that inhibit the interaction between physicians and industry development partners, that important ongoing source of improved patient care is threatened. In the session we’ll touch on practical impacts of clinical open innovation and efforts to mitigate harm as well as minimize errors of commission and omission.

Keynote speaker Dr. Richard B. Gunderman, Chancellor’s Professor of Radiology, Pediatrics, Medical Education, Philosophy, Liberal Arts, Philanthropy, and Medical Humanities and Health Studies at Indiana University, will present ideas on the four common interactions including research, education, innovation, and commercialization. Dr. Gunderman be followed by a panel of industry experts including:

-Sheryl Conley, President & Chief Executive Officer, OrthoWorx

-Dr. Alexander M. Djuricich, Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine, Indiana University

-Bruce Gingles, Vice-President, Global Technology Assessment and Healthcare Policy, COOK Medical, Inc.

-Jeff Hanthorn, Chief Operating Officer, NICO

This Frameworx session will take place on February 18, 2015 at D’Amore on the 48th floor of the Chase Tower on Monument Circle. Registration and networking begins at 8:00 a.m. followed by the session from 8:30 – 10:00 a.m. Parking is available in the Chase Tower garage off of Pennsylvania Street or on the street level at parking meters.

We look forward to seeing you on February 18.
