The state's technology initiative has announced nominees for the 16th Annual Mira Awards. TechPoint says, for the second straight year, more than half of the applicants were first-time participants. Winners will be announced at a black-tie gala May 2 in Indianapolis. February 5, 2015

News Release

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – TechPoint, the voice and catalyst of Indiana's tech ecosystem, has announced the nominees for its 16th annual Mira Awards presented by BKD CPAs & Advisors, which recognize and celebrate the best of tech in Indiana each year.

Winners will be announced at a masquerade-themed, black-tie awards ceremony and gala on Saturday, May 2 , at the JW Marriott. Note that May 2, is rescheduled from the previously announced date of March 21.

For the second consecutive year, more than half of the applications came from first-time companies, schools, organizations and individuals who had never before entered the Mira Awards. Mike Langellier, president and CEO of TechPoint, said that the high participation-rate by newcomers is a reflection of the growth of tech in the state and a healthy startup scene.

“When you're recognizing excellence and innovation and half of the field is made up of brand new companies year after year, it’s a sign that the tech ecosystem in Indiana is growing and thriving,” Langellier said. “The Mira Awards is our opportunity to come together as a community to celebrate these tremendous success stories and amplify them to thousands of people, including media, investors and technology buyers.”

Social Net Watcher, the cloud-based anti-bullying software startup and last year’s Education Tech Mira Award winner, secured more than $250,000 in venture capital from four new investors as a result of exposure from the Mira Awards. Other past winners reported signing $1 million in new business, closing a deal with a new billion-dollar customer, getting profiled by national media and even being invited to the White House.

Nominees were selected by more than 40 independent subject matter experts who evaluated and ranked the applications. Next, all nominees will deliver presentations and answer questions in-person with one of the independent judging panels, and then the judges will select the winners following their deliberations. The official 2015 TechPoint Mira Awards nominees are:
