WASHINGTON, DC – Honda and Acura vehicles produced at the company’s U.S. manufacturing facilities will be in the spotlight in the nation’s capital this week as part of the “Made Across America” initiative at the Washington D.C. Auto Show.
Eleven Honda and Acura vehicles produced at the company’s four U.S. auto plants in Indiana, Ohio, and Alabama will be featured at the Washington Auto Show which kicks off Wednesday (Jan. 21). This year’s show is saluting the automotive manufacturing, technology, sales and services, which drive the economies of many communities across the country.
In 2014, Honda produced nearly 1.3 million cars and light trucks at the company’s four U.S. auto plants. Nearly 98 percent of the Honda and Acura vehicles sold in the U.S. in 2014 were produced at the company’s manufacturing facilities in North America.
The Washington Auto Show opens Wednesday at the Washington Convention Center with media events and is open to the general public Jan. 23 – Feb. 1.
”Honda has been an engine for growth for the U.S. economy for more than 55 years,” said Bob Nelson, president of Honda Manufacturing of Indiana. “The support of the local communities where we manufacture our products has played a large role in Honda's success and there is a piece of these communities in every product that our associates build for our customers.”
In Indiana, Honda has manufactured nearly one million cars during the last six years. Today, Honda produces the 2015 Civic and employs more than 2,300 associates at its plant in Greensburg. Total investment is approximately $800 million.
In Ohio, Honda has manufactured more than 16 million vehicles during the last 33 years. Today, Honda’s four manufacturing plants employ more than 10,000 associates and total investment for manufacturing in Ohio is approximately $9 billion. Honda and Acura’s automotive lineup in Ohio includes the Honda Accord, CR-V and Crosstour and the Acura ILX, TLX and RDX.
In Alabama, Honda has manufactured more than 3.3 million light trucks and cars during the past 13 years. Today, Honda employs more than 4,000 associates at its Lincoln vehicle and V-6 engine plant and total investment is more than $2 billion. Honda and Acura’s automotive lineup in Alabama includes the Honda Odyssey, Pilot and Ridgeline and the Acura MDX.
