News Release

Indianapolis, Ind. — Chase has awarded Conexus Indiana a $250,000 grant to support and grow Hire Technology, Conexus Indiana's centerpiece high school curriculum that prepares students for careers in advanced manufacturing and logistics (AML). Now in its third year, the program is offered to nearly 2,000 students at more than 135 high schools throughout Indiana.

Hire Technology, launched in coordination with the Indiana Department of Education and Ivy Tech Community College, is a first-of-its kind statewide program that enables students to complete industry-recognized certificates and dual credits through Ivy Tech Community College. The certificates and dual credits are necessary for students who want to succeed in AML careers, as these jobs demand increasingly advanced technical skills and generally require a college degree or industry credential.

The 2-year Hire Technology curriculum was created in partnership with industry in response to the growing demand for skilled workers in advanced manufacturing and logistics. The demand-driven curriculum is delivered through Indiana high schools and career centers, and partners schools with industry representatives in each community. Conexus Indiana has nearly 160 industry partners, known as A+ Partner companies, who are paired with schools in their communities and show students how they can apply their education to real-world situations. The A+ Partner companies help recruit students to Hire Technology and also provide students opportunities to network with local employers to explore careers.

“Hire Technology builds on a partnership between the public and private sectors that is focused on developing opportunities in advanced manufacturing and logistics for young adults,” said Al Smith, Chairman of Indiana, Chase. “It's critical that businesses help the effort to bridge the skills gap and prepare students for success in Indiana.”

“Conexus Indiana is pleased that Chase continues as a major contributor to our Hire Technology program,” said Claudia Cummings, Conexus Indiana's vice president of Education, Workforce and Community Programs. “The Chase team is fully engaged in the success of the program and its mission. Hire Technology is successful and is serving students and industry in Indiana because of the corporate support and engagement of civic-minded companies like Chase.”
