Fishers will officially become a city Thursday. Mayor-elect Scott Fadness, the new city council and clerk have all taken their oaths of office. Fishers will begin operating as a second-class city January 1. A 2015 operating budget has already been approved.

Residents voted to approve the change in 2012.

The following year, measures were approved to adopt city legislative districts and set up future city election dates.
