INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – WGU Indiana's enrollment has reached 4,122 students as it celebrates four years of educating Hoosiers. The milestone coincides with the university’s announcement of $400,000 in scholarships across its four colleges.
“Our enrollment growth is a good indicator that busy adults are energized by a university model that works for them,” said chancellor of WGU Indiana, Allison Barber. “WGU Indiana's flexible, online model provides people, who want to finish a bachelor's degree or earn a master's, the perfect pathway to accomplishing their goal. We are pleased with our growth and we expect to help even more Hoosiers go further.”
Launched in 2010 with the intention of providing quality education to adults in Indiana, WGU Indiana has since graduated over 1,800 Hoosiers and become a staple in the state's workforce development with 98 percent of employers asking for more WGU Indiana graduates. The enrollment achievement comes on the heels of several additional accolades recently received by the university:
-The White House highlighted WGU in a report on post-secondary job-training and education programs that are achieving positive results.
-The National Council on Teacher Quality named WGU’s secondary teacher-preparation program the best in the country.
-The 2015 Military Friendly Schools list included WGU as a top school for military service members, veterans, and their families for the fifth year running.
-OnlineU ranked WGU the No. 1 best value in online college degrees.
WGU Indiana remains committed to making earning a college degree affordable by freezing its tuition at $6,000 a year for four years running. Recently it renewed its effort by announcing $400,000 in scholarships. The Quality Counts scholarships are open to new students pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in the areas of IT, business, teaching and healthcare.
