News Release

Merrillville, Ind. — The Midwest Chapter of the American College of Sports Medicine will be hosting its 42nd annual meeting on Nov. 7 and 8 at Radisson Hotel Star Plaza. The chapter's past president and chair of the 2014 planning committee, Michael Kushnick, Ph. D., stated that more than 450 attendees are expected to attend the meeting.

“Midwest American College of Sports Medicine is the first and one of the largest regional chapters of the American College of Sports Medicine,” said Kushnick. Members of the organization include undergraduate and graduate students, educators, researchers and professionals from Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa and Michigan. There will also be conference attendees from Kentucky and Georgia.

The goal of the conference is the dissemination of knowledge related to exercise, including physiology and applications in exercise and health, explained Kushnick.

While at the conference, attendees will learn from poster presentations, clinical tutorials and various symposiums. Attendees will also hear presentations from keynote speakers, and will be able to visit exhibitors presenting current research and displaying sports medicine equipment.

The American College of Sports Medicine Midwest Chapter was founded to follow, fulfill and promote, at a regional level, the objectives of the American College of Sports Medicine.
