MUNCIE, Ind. – A ribbon cutting and dedication for the Charles W. Brown Planetarium will be at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 22. President Paul W. Ferguson will preside over the ceremony with additional remarks from fellow administrators and benefactor Charles W. Brown. Demonstrations of the facility and a reception will follow immediately after. On Saturday, Nov. 8, a public grand opening for the campus and Muncie community will feature scheduled programming from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
The Charles W. Brown Planetarium's 52-foot diameter dome and state-of-the-art star projector will transform teaching and learning for science students, faculty, and professionals. With more than double the seating capacity of its predecessor, the planetarium will serve the needs of Ball State's astronomy program – which has one of the largest undergraduate enrollments in the country – and provide significant community assets for area schools and youth organizations.
