News Release

Indianapolis, Ind. — Governor Mike Pence today announced Denny Darrow as the Director for the Indiana State Personnel Department (SPD).

Darrow, who joined the agency in December of 2010, previously served as Deputy Director and Chief of Staff for SPD. As Chief of Staff, Darrow provided leadership for day to day SPD operations and oversaw several projects including implementing the “Invest in Your Health” initiative for state employees, designing and executing the IU Health and Wellness Center, the state’s first employee health clinic, and negotiating the implementation of Castlight.

“With extensive experience with the State Personnel Department thus far, Denny Darrow is uniquely qualified to continue the work of this agency,” said Pence. “I look forward to working more closely with Denny in his new role as he continues to provide personnel solutions to all of our state employees.”

Darrow is active in the community and has represented the agency’s work on a number of occasions across the nation. He has served as volunteer Chairman for the Employer’s Forum of Indiana. He has spoken on best practices regarding SPD’s healthcare success to various states and conferences, including Alaska, Oklahoma, the 2014 National Conference of State Legislators and the State and Local Government Benefit Association. Darrow has more than 17 years of human resources leadership experience and has previously worked in Indianapolis at Thomson Consumer Electronics, and Flashpoint HR, and as Director of Human Resources at the Indiana Department of Correction. He is a 1992 graduate of Purdue University.
