The Richmond Redevelopment Commission is slated to discuss funding requests Friday for several economic development projects. The Palladium-Item reports projects include senior housing, college student apartments and infrastructure between downtown and the historic Depot District. Other proposals are seeking funds for a pedestrian and bicycle master plan in the city and a low-income housing development on Richmond's north side.

The latter involves the forgivable loan request, $500,000, of the five projects. Plans call for a 48-unit apartment on the former Nicholson School property.

An Atlanta-based firm is asking for a $300,000 loan to transform the former Odd Fellows Building and the former location of Birck's Hardware into a development for seniors, joined by a catwalk.

Annex of Richmond wants to build an $8.5 million student housing development with a nearly $125,000 grant from the city.

The city is looking to supplement a combined $25,000 from the state and the Urban Enterprise Association with a proposed $17,500 grant.

The last request involves close to $145,000 to help match $4 million from the Indiana Department of Transportation. The “complete streets” connector plan is part of the city's Stellar Communities project.
