The Indiana Corn Marketing Council will host a delegation of corn buyers from Japan Thursday. The trip is part of a larger U.S. Grains Council program designed to boost the awareness of the advantages of U.S. crops. October 14, 2014

News Release

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – A delegation of Japanese corn buyers will visit Indiana on Thursday, October 16. Indiana Corn Marketing Council is hosting the group in partnership with the U.S. Grains Council.

The U.S. Grains Council is hosting the delegation to travel to the United States to see firsthand U.S. corn production and supply, and the current corn crop quality. The team will receive updates and discuss the advantages of U.S. corn from major production areas of the United States and meet with companies involved in production, quality testing and exports of U.S. corn to Japan. The team will also participate in Export Exchange 2014 to enhance the general knowledge on U.S. feed grains.

The visit is part of a multi-day visit to the United States. The delegation will also visit a grain facility and other agricultural businesses during their stay in Indiana.

The United States grew 13.9 billion bushels of corn in 2013 and roughly 11 percent of production was exported to more than 100 different countries. Among them, Japan was one of the largest importers of U.S. corn.

The Indiana Corn Marketing Council was established by the Indiana General Assembly to promote the interest of corn growers in the state and manage corn checkoff funds. The Council is composed of 17 voting producer directors and seven appointed industry, and government representatives.

This communication was funded with corn checkoff dollars.
