IPL to Begin Work on Morgan County Plant

Indianapolis, Ind. — Indianapolis Power & Light Company (IPL), a subsidiary of The AES Corporation (NYSE: AES), will break ground on the site of its new combined-cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power station near Martinsville on Thursday, September 4, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. AES and IPL leaders will be joined by Indiana Lt. Governor Sue Ellspermann and Morgan County government officials. IPL is investing approximately $600 million into the new plant which will generate 671 megawatts of electricity more efficiently and with fewer environmental emissions than the retiring Eagle Valley coal plant.
IPL President and CEO Kelly Huntington will also join Morgan County leaders in the announcement of a significant community initiative.
