Ivy Tech Community College has announced two promotions. Jeff Fanter has been named senior vice president for student experience, communications and marketing. Anne Valentine has been appointed vice president of student experience and customer service. July 29, 2014

STATEWIDE – Ivy Tech Community College President Thomas J. Snyder announced the promotion of Jeff Fanter to the role of Senior Vice President for Student Experience, Communications & Marketing and Anne Valentine to the role of Vice President for Student Experience and Customer Service.

Fanter, who has been with the Community College since 2003, has been serving in a Vice President role focused on the student experience, enrollment, communications and marketing since 2007. Valentine joined the Ivy Tech team in February of 2013 leading the efforts to launch the Express Enrollment Centers around the state.

The Office of the President has developed one leadership team that includes all of the Community College’s intake processes along with many of the student affairs experiences for the current student body. The various intake processes include the front end branding and marketing of the College leading to the recruitment, admissions and enrollment of the students. This includes the recently launched Express Enrollment Centers and the Success/Help Center. Functional areas including student records, student life, career services and financial aid are also a part of the student experience team.

Fanter will oversee the student experience team made up of all the various functional areas with Valentine, Assistant Vice President for Communications, Marketing and Media Relations Kelly Hauflaire and Chief Student Financial Resource Officer Ben Burton reporting to him. In addition John Pyzik who serves as Executive Director for Corporate College Marketing and Executive Director of Marketing, Communications for Columbus/Southeast Randy Proffitt will continue to report to Fanter.

Valentine’s efforts will focus on managing the Express Enrollment Centers, student records which is led by Assistant Vice President Ann Yater, student life which is led by Assistant Vice President Carey Treager Huber, admissions which is led by Assistant Vice President Seana Murphy and career services which will be led by a soon-to-be-named executive director.

Fanter joined Ivy Tech in 2003, in the Central Indiana region’s marketing department. Two years later, he led the efforts in the development of the College’s first statewide marketing/recruitment campaign and the launch of the Ivy Tech Community College brand. Later efforts resulted in a full scale fulfillment operation in addition to a seven-day a week, 18-hour hour a day call center. Today Ivy Tech, through all of these efforts, sends more than one million recruitment and retention communications a month to various student audiences while also streamlining communications and efforts saving the College over $1 million a year in operations.

Prior to joining Ivy Tech Fanter spent his career in college athletics. He served as the Assistant Athletic Director for media relations at Indiana University during the infamous Bob Knight firing and the Hoosiers run to the Men’s Basketball Final Four. He has also served as the Ice Hockey Commissioner for the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference, overseeing the management of seven collegiate ice hockey playing conferences with over 100 men’s and women’s teams and as an Assistant Sports Information Director at Colgate University. He is a graduate of Indiana University.

Prior to Ivy Tech, Valentine’s career focused on communications, legislative relations and operational management in the government and non-profit sectors. In Governor Mitch Daniels’ office, she served as Legislative, Policy and Intergovernmental Affairs Director managing legislative relations between Governor Daniels and the Indiana General Assembly while also directing legislative liaisons for all state agencies. While serving as the Legislative Director with the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles, she assisted in the implementation of a model to revamp and greatly improve the customer experience at the state’s BMV branches which helped inform her role leading Ivy Tech’s customer service initiatives.

As executive director of the Indianapolis Symphonic Choir, Valentine managed operations for the 140-voice choir, secured a significant multi-year grant from the Lilly Endowment, and doubled ticket sales revenue without increasing ticket prices. She developed, implemented, managed and evaluated all activities relating to granting programs, marketing initiatives and technical assistance services during her time as Vice President of the Arts Council of Indianapolis. She earned her Bachelors of Science from Butler University.

Ivy Tech Community College is the state’s largest public postsecondary institution and the nation’s largest singly accredited statewide community college system serving nearly 200,000 students annually.
