A well-known family in the state's basketball community is supporting an organization's efforts to revive an iconic arena. Anderson-based Wigwam Sports and Entertainment LLC says the Teague family, which includes current NBA players Jeff and Marquis, has joined its investment group. May 12, 2014

News Release

ANDERSON, Ind. – Wigwam Sports and Entertainment, LLC, a future provider of sporting, entertainment, convention, and trade show events, proudly announces the addition of the Teague family to their investment group. The Teague's, a well-known basketball family, now join in the effort to “Revitalize The Wigwam,” the historic sports and entertainment venue in Anderson, Indiana.

“Our family is excited to become a part of Wigwam Sports and Entertainment. Our entire family realizes the significance of the Wigwam and we are committed to this opportunity,” said Shawn Teague. Shawn was a starter on the 1979 Anderson Indians State Runner-Up team and the Wigwam was his “home court.” Shawn went on to play at the University of Missouri and then Boston College.

The family includes sons Jeff Teague, starting guard for the Atlanta Hawks, and Marquis Teague of the Brooklyn Nets. Jeff is coming off an incredible seven game NBA playoff series against the Indiana Pacers where he averaged 19.3 points per game and 5.0 assists per game, with a game high of 29 points in game two and 28 points in game seven. Marquis and his Brooklyn Nets are currently in the NBA Eastern Conference Semi-Finals against the defending back to back champions Miami Heat.

From this plan the economic development for the city and the region will occur by means of a variety of sporting, entertainment, convention, and trade show events in this iconic venue. And with the addition of the Teague family, a sporting portion of this plan is now in place.

“The addition of the entire Teague family to our investment group is tremendous for our efforts. Anyone who knows basketball and sports knows of the Teague family. They are a great addition to our already impressive investment group,” stated Terry Thimlar, president of Wigwam Sports and Entertainment.

If investment is not an opportunity, you may still contribute in the revitalization of the Wigwam to its former glory. And ensure that it remains a vital part of Central Indiana heritage and a source of future economic development. It is a simple, easy, and rewarding process. Go to www.gofundme.com, Community and Neighbors category and search for “Revitalize The Wigwam.” Then make your donation at the level of your choice. There are six levels to select from. It is that easy!
