Huntington University is expanding its adult learning offerings. The school says bachelor's degree programs in psychology, social work and criminal justice will begin this fall.

News Release

Huntington, Ind. — Huntington University is increasing its offerings for adult students with the addition of three new bachelor's degree programs this fall.

HU will offer programs in psychology, social work and criminal justice at its Huntington, Fort Wayne and Columbia City locations. The classes are offered in the evenings as well as online.

“At Huntington University, we understand the demands on adult students so we offer a variety of courses at convenient times as well as online to meet their needs,” said Julie Goetz, associate director of Professional Programs.

These new degree programs will offer a variety of career opportunities in growing fields for prospective students.

The psychology program will train students in behavior and mental processes from a Christian foundation. They will study human development, interpersonal relationships and abnormal psychology to prepare students for entry-level employment or graduate study.

HU's nationally-accredited social work program addresses the current needs of individuals, families, groups and communities, allowing students to be globally aware and locally active. Students will be prepared with classroom and hands-on fieldwork. The program will provide entry into the social work field as well as preparation for graduate school and the capacity to become licensed in any U.S. state.

The criminal justice will launch alongside the traditional undergraduate degree this fall. Through the program, students will gain skills in corrections, juvenile justice, law, criminology, addictions and public policy. Special attention will be given to techniques for dealing with job stress and how faith can have an impact on those areas. The program will prepare students to enter the field or to excel in their current position.
