The two-day event will focus on the technology sector and include a business pitch competition and networking opportunities. Organizer Nat Finn says he hopes the event will encourage young professionals to stay in the area by spotlighting the resources available to local entrepreneurs. The event is scheduled for April 25-27 at Purdue University Calumet in Hammond. It's part of Seattle-based nonprofit Startup Weekend, which has held more than 300 events throughout the world.
Judges for the event include Purdue Technology Center of Northwest Indiana Director Kathy DeGuilio-Fox and Healthcall LLC Chief Executive Officer Dan Hayes.
Organizers say participants don't need to come to the event with an idea in mind. Teams will work together to further develop the most popular pitches.
Elevate Ventures and the Purdue Research Park are also partnering on the startup weekend.
