Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard used his annual State of the City address to highlight more initiatives to support small businesses and startups. He says the city is looking for partners to open a new downtown incubator and a Business Acceleration Team will be launched later this year. Ballard also says new developments such as a downtown transit center and the planned MSA Tower will help improve the skyline and raise the city’s global profile. Ballard also touched on safety and education issues.

He says Indianapolis will be one of three cities throughout the country to take part in a GreatSchools.org pilot program to add Pre-K information to the Indianapolis school chooser guide.

He is also asking the Indy Chamber to lead a study to quantify the impact of early childhood education in the city economy.

Ballard is also focusing on overall quality of life issues, calling on residents to “Live Indy.”
