Two national sled hockey tournaments are set to begin Friday in Fort Wayne. Organizers say the Bob Chase Frostbite and Silver Stick Sled Hockey Championship events will attract teams from throughout the Midwest and other states including Arizona, Colorado and New York. The sport is designed for athletes with disabilities. February 6, 2014

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Sled hockey is returning to Fort Wayne for the 6th Annual Bob Chase Frostbite and 4th Annual Silver Stick Sled Hockey Championship February 7-9, 2014.

-All games and opening ceremony will be held at Lutheran Health Sports Complex located at 3869 Ice Way, Fort Wayne IN 46805, 260-387-6614. Opening ceremony is Saturday, at 3pm on the ice.

-This nationwide event will include competition from teams traveling from Arizona, Colorado, Illinois, Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania and New York.

-Adult teams will be competing in the Bob Chase Frostbite Championship which is part of the Mid-American Great Lakes (MAGL) Sled League. The top 2 teams at the end of the season will go on to participate in the Disabled Festival National Championship.

-Youth Teams will be participating in the 4th Annual Silver Stick Sled Hockey Final. Silver Stick is a non-profit organization that promotes Citizenship and Goodwill through hockey. More than 65,000 players participate in Silver Stick events annually.

-Opening Ceremonies will be held on Saturday, February 8 at 3:00 pm. o Semifinals will be held Sunday, February 9 at 10:30am & 11:00am. o Championship match will be held Sunday, February 9 at 1:40pm.

-Turnstone in partnership with Fort Wayne Youth Hockey are the hosts of this event

Fort Wayne is proud to have the Turnstone Flyers playing in both the MAGL and Silver Stick Final.
