WHITESTOWN, Ind. – Indiana-based Weaver Popcorn Company, the supplier of 30 percent of the world's popcorn, is moving its corporate headquarters to the Town of Whitestown in Boone County. Weaver Popcorn will occupy a 240,000 square foot building just off of I-65 in 2014.
Weaver Popcorn Company will retain 50 employees, with an average salary of $70,000 per year. The added space also allows the company to hire an additional 40 workers with an average wage of $22 per hour.
“The attraction of a corporate headquarters is a top economic development priority for Whitestown,” said Whitestown Town Council President Eric Miller. “We are pleased Weaver Popcorn is confident Whitestown will be the location that will ensure their long-term growth and success.”
Weaver Popcorn Company is making an $18,000,000 capital investment in Boone County. The Boone EDC recommended the county offer a 10-year personal property abatement to help land the company.
“There were a number of factors that influenced Weaver Popcorn's decision to establish their Corporate Headquarters in Whitestown and Boone County. The available building, quality workforce, infrastructure and our agriculture roots were very attractive to the company. Not to mention that 130,000 cars a day are going to see Weaver Popcorn's Corporate Headquarters just off of I-65. All of these factors make them an ideal fit for Boone County,” said Boone EDC Executive Director Bryan Brackemyre.
“It is very exciting to have the Weaver Popcorn Company choose Boone County for their future site. The company is a great fit with the strong agricultural roots of the area and this company will have a very positive effect on our local economy. We are very happy that they have chosen to make Whitestown and Boone County their home,” said Boone County Commissioner Jeff Wolfe.
Weaver Popcorn is the second major project announcement in Boone County in 2014. Hat World/Lids, chose to build its corporate headquarters in Zionsville earlier in the month.
