Steve Sterrett will leave the position in March 2015. The company plans to carry out a search over the next few months to find a replacement. Sterrett has been with Simon for more than two decades.
He became senior vice president and treasurer in 1993 and chief financial officer in 2001.
Sterrett was named senior executive vice president in 2011, while keeping the CFO responsibilities.
Chief Executive Officer David Simon made the announcement about Sterrett's retirement last week during a conference call with analysts.
