TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Everald E. Clarke has been named director of professional and organizational development at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.
Clarke has more than 25 years of experience in employee development, training and staffing, and has a demonstrated record of success in program development and employee engagement in higher education. His areas of expertise range from talent acquisition and recruitment to employer relations.
Employee professional development is a key element of Rose-Hulman's strategic plan, according to Robert A. Coons, senior vice president and chief administrative officer. Specific goals include the pursuit of excellence in professional development, to be considered a great place to work and to be the employer of choice for prospective employees.
Clarke was instrumental in creating new professional development initiatives while working at Vanderbilt University for the past five years. He had been assistant director of administrative services for the Department of Medicine since 2010 after being a business administrative manager since 2008. He established a new employee on-boarding program, collaborated on employee relations concerns for staff and faculty, and developed a leadership model for 13 division administrators.
Higher education experience was also gained at the University of Tennessee from 1994-2008. Clarke managed a $2 million research enterprise of human resources, and a purchasing and operating system for the College of Medicine’s health science center. He also developed partnerships for staff recruitment, led a project team that implemented a wireless patient tracking system and established marketing initiatives for patient recruitment.
Clarke worked from 1985-1993 as an office administrator for the U.S. Air Force, based in Biloxi, Mississippi. He earned commendation and national defense service medals, along with a shield medal for military service in Operation Desert Storm.
Clarke earned a bachelor's degree in organizational management from Crichton College (Tennessee) and a master’s degree from Bellevue University (Nebraska). He studied project planning and management at the University of Tennessee and total quality management with the U.S. Air Force.
