More than a dozen Hoosier companies are being honored for their longevity. The Indiana Historical Society and the Indiana Economic Development Corp. have announced this year's Centennial Business Award class, including a South Bend-based bank celebrating its 150th anniversary. December 2, 2013

News Release

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Indiana Historical Society (IHS), in partnership with the Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC) will present 13 companies with its Centennial Business Award, as well as honor one for 150 years in business, at its annual Founders Day Dinner, presented by Wells Fargo Advisors. Each company will also be added to its Historic Business Register. The presentation will take place this evening (Monday, Dec. 2) at the Eugene and Marilyn Glick Indiana History Center, located at 450 W. Ohio St. in downtown Indianapolis.

In 1992, the trustees and members of the Indiana Historical Society founded the Historic Business Register with three goals in mind: to provide special recognition to Indiana companies continually in business for a century or more, to encourage the preservation of historically significant business-related archival materials, and to develop increased awareness of our rich business and industrial heritage among Indiana's citizens.

The Centennial Business Awards are presented every year in partnership with the IEDC. To date, the names of more than 400 companies have been registered and listed on the IHS website, most with organizational narratives. Web viewers can use the alphabetical index to browse the register or use the site search to find particular businesses.

Honorees for 2013 include the following businesses (listed with current location, along with founding year if other than 1913):

1st Source Bank, South Bend (1863) – celebrating 150 years

Bippus State Bank, Huntington (1911)
