Indiana University has named Sacha Thieme executive director of admissions for the Bloomington campus. She currently serves as director of freshman admissions at DePaul University and is set to begin in the new role next month. October 23, 2013

News Release

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – IU alumna Sacha Thieme will join Indiana University as executive director of admissions for IU Bloomington, reporting to David Johnson, vice provost for the Office of Enrollment Management.

Thieme, the current director of freshman admissions at DePaul University in Chicago, will begin her new role Nov. 25.

“As a first-generation college student, I know exactly how transformative an IU education can be,” Thieme said.

As the executive director, Thieme will have responsibility for the leadership and advancement of strategy, policy and operations for all domestic undergraduate admissions and recruiting.

At DePaul, she has led major projects that have contributed to staff development and job satisfaction; partner collaborations that have strengthened recruiting; and improved business processes, such as a call center, and the introduction of non-cognitive variables in the application review process.

She will apply her use of data, research, analysis and technology to expand and refine their use within the IU Bloomington Office of Admissions.

Thieme has a strong allegiance and familiarity with IU, having earned her B.A. in sociology at IU, as well as an M.S. in higher education and student affairs administration. While completing her master's, she worked in admissions, with orientation, and residential programs.

“After conducting a national search, we're pleased to have Sacha join us at IU Bloomington,” Johnson said. “She understands the complexities of recruiting and admissions issues, and her strengths will allow her to provide the leadership and experience to take our admissions team to the next level of service and performance.”

Thieme said she's excited to join Johnson and the Office of Enrollment Management team to help attract and serve future alumni leaders, while also sharing the message of opportunity with those who are not as familiar.

“As a native Hoosier – and an IU grad – I look forward to returning to the Bloomington campus,” she said.
