The Indianapolis Cultural Trail has received a Downtown Pinnacle Award from the International Downtown Association. David Downey, president of the Washington D.C.-based organization, calls the trail “a wonderful example for all downtowns to emulate.” October 7, 2013

NEW YORK, N.Y. – During its World Congress and 59th Annual Conference, the International Downtown Association recognized the Indianapolis Cultural Trail: A Legacy of Gene and Marilyn Glick with a Downtown Pinnacle Award.

The Indianapolis Cultural Trail was among 24 qualified entries in the category of Public Space. This category recognizes capital improvements that enhanced the urban design, physical function or economic viability of downtown and the community.

“We are honored to receive such a prestigious recognition and set a standard for how public spaces can connect communities,” stated K?ren Haley, executive director, Indianapolis Cultural Trail, Inc. The award was accepted in New York by Molly Williams, representing Indianapolis Downtown, Inc. and Tamara Zahn, representing Indianapolis Cultural Trail, Inc.

“The Indianapolis Cultural Trail received this prestigious award for demonstrating excellence in downtown public space,” said David Downey, IDA president and CEO. “Each year the IDA Awards Jury honors the very best programs and projects in each category to recognize great work and most importantly to set the standard for best practice in our industry. The Indianapolis Cultural Trail is a wonderful example for all downtowns to emulate.”

The Washington, D.C. based International Downtown Association (IDA) is a champion for vital and livable urban centers and strives to inform, influence and inspire downtown leaders and advocates. With 550 members and thousands of friends, IDA is a guiding force in creating healthy and dynamic centers that anchor the well-being of towns, cities and regions.

The Indianapolis Cultural Trail is a world-class, 8-mile urban bike and pedestrian path that connects Downtown Indianapolis' Cultural Districts, neighborhoods and entertainment amenities. It also serves as the Downtown hub for the Central Indiana greenway system.

Indianapolis Downtown, Inc. is the development, management and marketing organization representing the interests of property owners in Downtown Indianapolis and is a member of the International Downtown Association.
