The founder of a central Indiana homebuilding business will be laid to rest Sunday. Paul Estridge, Sr., who started the Estridge Group in 1967 and was instrumental in developing Indiana Downs in Shelbyville, passed away this week at 79. September 26, 2013

Obituary

PAUL E. ESTRIDGE SR, 79, of Westfield, IN passed away Monday, September 23, 2013 at St Vincent’s Hospital, Carmel. He was born February 21, 1934 to Elmer and Hannah Estridge.

Paul was one of the premier homebuilders in central Indiana. He started his business in 1967 and loved working and thinking about building homes until the end of his life. He spent many joyful years with family and friends enjoying his homes at Lake Wawasee and St Petersburg Beach in Florida. He was a 1951 graduate of Broad Ripple High School; was honored with the Sagamore of the Wabash award; and was also chosen to be on the St Vincent Foundation Board.

His spirit and determination was the driving force behind the Indiana Downs Race Track, which opened in 2002.

He is survived by his children Paul (Judy) Estridge Jr., Sherry (Gary) McNutt, and Vicki (Martin) Short; nine grandchildren, Cory, Kiley and Wesley McNutt, Mary Ellen, Elyse (Scott) Harvey, Joshua Estridge, and Shawn, Trevor and Giorgia Short; and two brothers, Jim (Luanne) Estridge and Donald Estridge.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Carol (Billeter) Estridge.

Services will be held at 3:30 pm on Sunday September 29, 2013 at Centennial Bible Church, 720 Liberty Drive, Westfield, IN, with visitation beginning at 2:00 pm prior to the service. Please join us for a celebration of Paul’s life, beginning at 5:00 pm (after the entombment), at Bridgewater Country Club, 3535 East 161st Street, Westfield.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Legacy Fund/ Estridge Family Foundation, 515 E. Main Street, Suite 100, Carmel, IN.
