Swift Fuels to Cut Ribbon on Blending Facility

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Officials from Swift Fuels LLC, based in the Purdue Research Park of West Lafayette, on Friday (Sept. 13) will conduct a ribbon-cutting ceremony for their new aviation fuel blending facility and break ground for their new pilot plant operations at 3937 U.S. Highway 52 S. at County Road 400 S., Lafayette. The event will be 10 a.m. to noon.
The new aviation fuel blending terminal and renewable fuels pilot plant are about one mile south of Nanshan America. Scheduled speakers include Lafayette Mayor Tony Roswarski; Dan Hasler, president and chief entrepreneurial officer of the Purdue Research Foundation; Erin Nelson, program manager at Greater Lafayette Commerce; and Chris D'Acosta, CEO of Swift Fuels.
Swift Fuels has developed an unleaded high-octane aviation gasoline called 100SF that can be used in all general aviation piston engine aircraft worldwide.
“There are more than 165,000 general aviation aircraft in the United States alone, and they operate on leaded aviation gasoline today because an unleaded high-octane fuel needed to operate aircraft has not been available until now,” D'Acosta said. “Swift Fuels' 100SF was developed to replace leaded aviation gasoline. We are transitioning from several years of research and development to the start-up of this fuel blending and pilot scale production facility, which will strengthen our commercialization efforts in various fuels markets.”
The facility will store at least 50,000 gallons of unleaded, high-octane aviation fuel components for sales and shipment to Swift Fuels' customers. The pilot plant will produce more than 10,000 gallons of 100SF per month when it reaches full capacity.
Swift Fuels personnel developed 100SF in their research facility in the Purdue Research Park of West Lafayette and currently plan to continue to operate their headquarters and R&D at that location.
