The city of Elwood has completed the sale of a vacant plant to a Hamilton County custom truck manufacturer. Warner Bodies Inc., currently based in Noblesville, is looking to invest up to $3 million into upgrading and relocating to the former Plastech building. The move could eventually create approximately 150 jobs. August 26, 2013

ELWOOD, Ind. – Mayor Ron Arnold, Elwood Redevelopment Commission President Tom Austin and Warner Bodies President Rick Manasek sign paperwork that concludes the sale of the former Plastech facility to Warner Bodies. “We are very excited for the citizens of Elwood, Warner Bodies will be a great asset to our community, both in jobs and as a corporate citizens,” said Mayor Arnold. Manasek said the reconstruction on the facility is proceeding on schedule and they hope to begin moving parts of their operation into the facility early in 2014.

In March of this year, the City of Elwood and Warner Bodies signed an agreement to relocate Warner Bodies' production facility to the former Plastech site in Elwood. Warner Bodies, currently located in Noblesville and will move their current job force (52 employees) to Elwood in 2014. Warner Bodies also intends to invest up to $3 million to upgrade the former Plastech facility. The upgrade will result in approximately 150 new jobs being added over the next several years.

Warner Bodies was founded in 1939, Warner Bodies has been building utility bodies and custom trucks for over half a century. During the company's early years, Warner manufactured specialized van bodies for the sales and service industries.
