FORT WAYNE, Ind. – A scientist/inventor, the CEO of a company famous for its public opinion polls, and a best-selling author headline the 19th season of the Indiana University Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) Omnibus Lecture Series. New this year is the move to a three-lecture series, with all speakers appearing in the fall.

Bill Nye, the eponymous host of Bill Nye the Science Guy, made it his life's mission to promote scientific curiosity. A graduate of Cornell, Nye began his career as an engineer for Boeing before becoming an actor on Seattle's Almost Live! sketch comedy show. In 1993, PBS launched the immensely popular Bill Nye the Science Guy, making Nye a household name. Nye has also appeared in many documentaries and lent his expertise to cable news shows like Larry King Live and The Rachel Maddow Show. The Indiana Purdue Student Government Association (IPSGA) is a co-sponsor for this lecture.
Jeannette Walls, Best-Selling Author of The Glass Castle “The Glass Castle: Demon Hunting and Other Life Lessons”

Jeannette Walls is the author of the New York Times best-selling novel The Glass Castle. Her memoir has sold 3.5 million copies in the United States and is being adapted into a major motion picture. It recalls Wall's unconventional upbringing by unorthodox parents. Raised in the American Southwest and a mining town in West Virginia, Walls and her siblings endured poverty and great uncertainty. Walls grew up to become a renowned columnist for New York magazine and MSNBC.com and has appeared on Good Morning America, Larry King Live, and Oprah.
Jim Clifton, CEO of Gallup, Author of The Coming Jobs War “The Coming Jobs War”

Jim Clifton is the CEO of Gallup, famous for its public opinion polls.
Under his leadership, Gallup expanded its operations to a global scale.
Clifton is responsible for major innovations in the realm of public opinion polling, including the Gallup World Poll, which collects data from across the world on key global issues. He is also the creator of the Gallup Path, an economic model that examines relationships between workplace behavior and outcomes for businesses. Clifton is the author of The Coming Jobs War, which draws on 75 years of Gallup studies to explain why those who control the job market also control our future.
His unique perspective makes him an authority in organizational consulting and public opinion research. This lecture is co-sponsored by the Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership, Lutheran Health Network, and the Indiana Chamber of Commerce.
The Omnibus Lecture Series is dedicated to presenting diverse ideas through respected speakers to northeast Indiana. It is sponsored by the English Bonter Mitchell Foundation and the Dr. Louis and Ann B.

Free tickets are required for all Omnibus Lectures. Tickets will be available three weeks prior to each event and may be obtained:
IN PERSON at the Larson Box Office in the Gates Athletic Center,
12:30 6:30 p.m., Monday through Friday
ONLINE at ipfw.edu/box-office; a convenience fee of $1 will be charged DAY OF EVENT in the Rhinehart Music Center one hour before the lecture, if seats remain
Each lecture will be held on the IPFW campus in The John and Ruth Rhinehart Music Center's 1,600-seat Auer Performance Hall. Doors open one hour before the each lecture. Campus parking is free and convenient.
The 1,000-space parking garage 3 is located in the Fine Arts Plaza to serve Omnibus audiences. Patrons are advised to allow ample time for traffic and parking, as the series and other events on campus may draw large crowds.
