A Canadian real estate group has purchased the former Plainfield headquarters of Fundex Games Ltd. Dalfen America Corp., based in Montreal, bought the property at auction for more than $3.6 million.

News Release

Indianapolis, Ind. — The former global headquarters of Plainfield games company Fundex was sold at auction by Indianapolis-based Key Auctioneers on Wednesday, July 31. The property was sold to Dalfen America Corp. for $3,685,000.

Dalfen America Corp. is a Montreal-based consignment real-estate group that specializes in commercial real estate. They manage 11 million square feet of property in Canada and have rapidly expanded their holdings in the U.S. In June, Dalfen purchased the Shadeland Commerce Center in Warren Park, making today’s Plainfield purchase their second Indianapolis-area investment in as many months.

Fundex, the maker of popular card and children's games such as Phase 10, declared bankruptcy in September 2012. The company’s gaming assets were sold in December to Slinky-maker Propel Equity Partners. Their state-of-the-art building — 109,900 total square feet on 10.25 acres — includes 94,900 square feet of warehouse and 15,000 square feet of office space.

The Plainfield Business Park is a major American distribution hub that borders I-70 and is situated 7 miles southwest of the Indianapolis International Airport. The park is home to numerous Fortune 500 companies. The building's neighbors include Eli Lilly, Amazon and electronics manufacturer Foxconn, supplier of the iPhone and Kindle.
