The German Ambassador to the U.S. is in Indianapolis today to discuss the need for skilled workers. Peter Ammon presented his “Workforce Skills Initiative” to Hoosier business leaders at an event which also featured Governor Mike Pence, Senator Dan Coats and Ivy Tech Community College President Tom Snyder. Governor Mike Pence and Ivy Tech President Tom Snyder

WHAT: Senator Coats, former U.S. Ambassador to Germany, will join Peter Ammon, German Ambassador to the U.S., Governor Mike Pence and Ivy Tech President Tom Snyder at “Workforce Skills Initiative” to address job readiness.

WHEN: Today, July 8, at 11:30 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. EDT

WHERE: Ivy Tech Corporate College and Culinary Center, 2nd Floor Ballroom

2820 North Meridian Street, Indianapolis

Background: German Ambassador to the U.S. Peter Ammon will address a luncheon audience consisting of major manufacturing companies, German companies doing business in Indiana, Indiana companies doing business with Germany as well as representatives from educational institutions and elected officials. The ambassador's “Skills Initiative” is in response to German companies' need for skilled workers as they seek to invest in the U.S. The International Center, in discussions with the German American Chamber of Commerce, Ivy Tech, and IEDC, saw an opportunity to bring this initiative to Indiana.
