Indiana Esports Development LLC is partnering with California-based Super League Gaming Inc. (Nasdaq: SLGG) to produce streams of an official Combine Showcase featuring top prospect players in the esports world.
The organization says the Combine Showcase will focus on five different game titles with the goal of giving attendees a glimpse into the perspective of coaches who are recruiting for their esports teams. Coaches and recruiters will provide commentary and insight into what they look for in players.
Indiana Esports Development was formed through a partnership between the Indiana Sports Corp. and Franklin-based Harena Data Inc.
“We decided to partner with Super League Gaming because we felt their passion for esports and the ability to develop innovative broadcasting matched what we’re looking for,” said Bill Dever, chief strategy officer at Harena Data. ”With the event being virtual, we need scope, depth, and a partner ready to cover new ground and they do just that.”
Plans for the Esports Combine were first announced in May. The event was originally scheduled to take place this weekend at the Indiana Convention Center, however the COVID-19 pandemic forced organizers to switch to a virtual event on the weekend of October 16.
The Esports Combine is expected to host more than 1,500 players, school leaders, industry experts and influencers in the virtual format.
