The program provides easy access locations for seniors to receive food.
The organizations say senior citizens are one of the fastest-growing groups of people to experience food insecurity.
“Now more than ever, older adults and those with disabilities need the support of our communities. We are grateful to Second Harvest for this partnership, which will allow us to serve those most in need,” said Mandy Williams, vice president of programs at LifeStream.
LifeStream and Second Harvest are this summer preparing to expand their distribution sites from three locations to 10 in their service area.
Current locations are in Daleville, Portland, and Union City. The new locations will be spread throughout Delaware and Madison counties.
The organizations say they need volunteers to manage the program sites on distribution days.
Second Harvest Food Bank of East Central Indiana serves over 100 pantries and meal programs in Blackford, Delaware, Grant, Henry, Jay, Madison, Randolph and Wabash Counties.
