BLOOMINGTON - The Indiana University Kelley School of Business is No. 1 for best online MBA programs in the country, according to a new ranking from U.S. News and World Report.

The publication says the highly ranked programs have strong academic foundations for students pursuing an online master’s degree in business administration.

It’s tied with the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for that distinction.

The listing is based on entering students, graduation rates and instructor credentials.

According to IU, the Kelley Direct program began in 1999 and was the first online MBA program to be offered by a top-ranked business school.

The university says almost 4,400 students have earned Kelley MBAs through the distance learning program.

Ball State University also made the list, coming in at No. 15 for best MBA programs. The University of Southern Indiana appears at No. 123.  Anderson University, Goshen College and Indiana Institute of Technology were also recognized.
