Portage Mayor-elect Sue Lynch has promoted Mike Candiano to police chief. He is a 17-year veteran of the department and most recently served as captain. Prior to that, Candiano served as the school resource officer for Portage High School.
Candiano will replace outgoing chief, Troy Williams. He will assume his new duties January 1.
