Our partners at The Herald Bulletin report the Anderson City Council has approved a seven-year tax abatement for Italpollina’s new research and development facility in the Madison County city.
The 10,400-square-foot facility, located across from the company’s Anderson manufacturing facility, will also create seven jobs with an average hourly wage of $38.46, according to the publication. Italpollina opened its North American headquarters in Anderson last year.
“We want to develop Italpollina Park so that it will be a knowledge producer,” Chief Executive Officer Luca Bonini told the paper in October when the company broke ground on the facility. “We’re here to stay.”
Construction on the R&D facility is expected to be complete in August.
Meanwhile, the Anderson City Council is set to give final approval next month to a tax abatement for Nestlé USA’s $200 million expansion at its Anderson plant. The project, first announced earlier this month, is expected to create 30 jobs.
The investment will allow the company to purchase and install new equipment at the facility. Anderson Mayor Tom Broderick told the publication the 70% tax abatement was a negotiated agreement.
“That’s consistent with what we have been doing in recent years when it comes to a tax abatement,” Broderick said. “Nestle has a large investment in Anderson and this shows their commitment to our community.”
The council is set to vote on the incentives at its January 9 meeting.
