Chatman Out as Fever Coach
INDIANAPOLIS - After missing the playoffs for the third straight season, the Indiana Fever have announced Pokey Chatman will not return as head coach and general manager next season. The team went 13-21 this season. In Chatman’s three seasons as head coach, she compiled a record of 28-74.
“We want to thank Pokey for her time with our franchise and we wish her the absolute best,” said Tamika Catchings, Indiana Fever vice president of basketball operations.
The team says the search for a new coach and general manager will begin immediately. “Our organization is optimistic about our future as we continue to build on our 20-year legacy as one of the WNBA’s most successful franchises," said Catchings.
The Indiana Fever announced last week that it will play at least the next two seasons at Hinkle Fieldhouse at Butler University while Bankers Life Fieldhouse in downtown Indy undergoes a $360 million renovation. Most of the work will occur during the WNBA season which runs May through September.
