INDIANAPOLIS - Circle Centre Mall in downtown Indianapolis may see new life in the old Carson's department store location. The mall announced Thursday it sees potential in turning the vacant retail space into Class A office space. Mall management selected CBRE to be the listing agency for the property.

“Indianapolis’ growth has shown a need for more office space; we are thrilled to be able to provide a solution,” said Nick Strause, Circle Centre Mall manager.

The second and third stories of Carson's store, about 90,000 square feet, would be converted into office space. CBRE says it will begin leasing initiatives right away. “Initial interest for leasing has been very strong and we are excited for what will come next in these spaces,” said John Vandenbark, senior vice president at CBRE.

The 25-year-old mall has been plagued with several departing stores in recent years, including Carsons’ closure last year.

CBRE says with signage opportunities and abundant attached parking in the heart of downtown Indianapolis, the space is ideal for office space. “The fantastic, existing combination of retail, hospitality, dining and amenities at Circle Centre Mall will be very attractive for prospective office tenants,” said Vandenbark.
