SIA Breaks Ground on Training Center
LAFAYETTE - Officials from Subaru of Indiana Automotive in Lafayette have broken ground on a new technical training center. The company says the 20,000-square-foot facility will double the size of its current training center.
SIA did not say how much it is investing in the new facility. The technical training center will feature a simulated factor floor, up to six training robots, multiple assembly line simulators, classrooms, and a larger computer lab, among other amenities.
Scott Brand, senior vice president at SIA says the facility will be the next step in the evolution of how the company educates its workforce.
"This new facility will revolutionize the way in which we train our future production associates," said Brand. "Training has always been a cornerstone of our quality strategy. Whether it’s primary job skills, enhancing effectiveness through refresher courses, or providing access to college-level courses and degrees, we’re committed to helping our associates grow."
SIA says it has developed programs in conjunction with various workforce development partners, such as Ivy Tech Community College, Purdue Polytechnic Institute and Vincennes University. Construction on the new facility is expected to be complete in October.
