BLOOMINGTON - The Bloomington Economic Development Corp. will Tuesday conclude the latest cohort of its B-Start pre-accelerator program with its Demo Day pitch competition. Nine teams of entrepreneurs will pitch their ideas to a panel of judges for a share of $4,500 in prizes.

The 22-week cohort began in October. The organization says most of the finalists are Bloomington residents, nine of which are Indiana University students.

"The future of our economy and job creation is through innovation-driven businesses, the types of businesses that we help to start through our B-Start program," said Anne McCombe, vice president at Bloomington Economic Development Corp. "Demo Day is the celebration of the conclusion of the B-Start program, a program that strives to show every participant that Bloomington has an abundance of resources that can help you start and grow businesses."

Each team will receive $500 for participating in Demo Day. The three top-scoring teams will divide the $4,500 in prizes.
