INDIANAPOLIS - The editor of central Indiana alternative newspaper NUVO says the brand will "continue to provide local journalism under a new model" through its website. Laura McPhee announced Saturday that NUVO is ending print publication after nearly three decades.

In a series of tweets Saturday, McPhee said last Wednesday's NUVO would be the last print edition. She says News Editor Rob Burgess will help lead the continuing online effort.

NUVO was founded in 1990. In November, the publication announced it would cut back to bi-weekly print editions. It bills itself as the "fiercely independent voice of central Indiana," covering topics ranging from arts and food to social justice and environmental issues.
