FORT WAYNE - Trine University has announced its launch of TrineOnline, a new program for students aiming to complete an associate's, bachelor's or master's degree. The department will eventually be headquartered in Fort Wayne at what is currently Trine's Fort Wayne Education Center.

"Trine University has a long, successful history in Fort Wayne, offering professional studies degree programs for more than 20 years and, more recently, launching and developing programs at our Health Sciences Education Center," John Shannon, vice president for academic affairs, said in a news release. "With increased numbers expected in the working adult population, it makes sense to centralize TrineOnline operations in Fort Wayne, which offers a critical mass of these students, a solid technology infrastructure and plenty of room for expansion."

Shannon said Trine hopes to foster an established presence in Fort Wayne, even as it continues to invest in its main Angola campus.
