Governor Eric Holcomb has selected Devon McDonald as the next executive director of the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute. McDonald, who currently serves as chief of staff and general counsel for the institute, will succeed the retiring David Murtaugh.

McDonald began his tenure at the ICJI in 2012 as a victim compensation supervisor.

Murtaugh was appointed to the executive director position in 2015 by then-Governor Mike Pence. He was reappointed by Holcomb in 2016.

"David Murtaugh has been a lifelong public servant to his local community, state, and nation," Holcomb said in a news release. "I want to thank Dave for his distinguished career of sacrifice and dedication to criminal justice."

McDonald is a veteran of the U.S. Army and earned his bachelor’s degree from IUPUI and a law degree from the Indiana University McKinney School of Law.
