Purdue, Infosys Detail Cybersecurity Training Efforts
India-based Infosys (NYSE: INFY) and Purdue University are providing more details on one aspect of a partnership announced more than a year ago. The university says it will provide intensive cybersecurity training for up to 2,000 Infosys employees throughout the world over the next two and a half years.
In August 2017, both Infosys and Purdue detailed a partnership that would involve not only training efforts, but also joint research projects and a presence for Infosys at the university's Discovery Park. Purdue says the training for Infosys will involve topics including malware analysis, tracing a threat using various tools, and forensic analysis.
"Purdue is famous worldwide for its work in cybersecurity, and we are proud to partner with this leading American university to provide our employees with these in-demand cybersecurity skills," said Srikantan Moorthy, executive vice president and global head of education training and assessment at Infosys. "This strategic alliance with Purdue will enhance Infosys’ ability to attract and recruit top local talent, enable us to further develop a culture of lifelong learning and entrepreneurship, as well as fuel new ideas that will help our clients improve all that they are already doing."
Suresh Garimella, executive vice president for research and partnerships at Purdue, says the partnership will have additional benefits beyond the two partners. He says the information given to Infosys employees will be distributed to countries throughout the world and will fill a market need "to continuously upskill, and reskill the professional cyber domain workforce for the foreseeable future."
The partnership is the latest part of Infosys' growing presence in Indiana, which began in May 2017, when the company announced plans to establish a Technology and Innovation Hub in Indianapolis, creating 2,000 jobs by the end of 2021. That hub opened in March of this year.
Garimella and Infosys President Ravi Kumar appeared on Inside INdiana Business with Gerry Dick in August 2017 to talk about the partnership. You can watch that interview by clicking the link below:
