Marshmallow Makers Changing Lifestyle, Business
A gourmet marshmallow company in Columbus says it has made the "bittersweet" decision to end production next month. 240sweet co-owners Alexa Lemley and Sam Aulick say they will shift focus to a new line of sugar-free, low-carb and gluten-free treats, spices and foods. The company was launched in 2007 and Chef Alexa's creations have been featured in publications including Martha Stewart Weddings, O (the Oprah Magazine) and Food & Wine Magazine.
The decision came after a Type 2 Diabetes diagnosis for Sam and an ensuing lifestyle changes for both co-owners. In a blog post they said "as we focus on health and taking control of our lives, we find that we need to shift our business to promoting and supporting you in health journeys. Making 240sweet marshmallows does not fit our new outlook."
The company's Artisan Foodworks business, which handles catering, will be integrating the new cuisine into its menus. You can connect to more about Chef Alexa and Sam's new ketogenic-focused business at their KetoLuxe website.
