The Radio Television Digital News Association and Foundation will have their first director for strategic initiatives beginning June 4th. Tara Puckey was chosen for the position. She most recently served as interim executive director of the Society of Professional Journalists.

Puckey began with SPJ as a member strategist, and later became an associate executive director before filling the interim position in the fall of 2017. Although her new position is with a company based in Washington, D.C., Puckey is an Indiana resident. She graduated from IUPUI, where she studied Journalism. She received her masters degree from Western Governors University.

The Association and Foundation both work to protect first amendment rights and help broadcasting reporters and newscasters. Puckey will help RTDNA and RTDNF in business relations, development, and grant procurement.
