Ice Miller LLP has added Sujata Barai Chugh, of counsel, to the firm’s public and municipal finance group. Her practice is comprised of traditional municipal law and finance, public-private partnership transactions and certain health care matters. Sujata is a skilled transactional attorney and client counselor who has served private legal clients, governmental agencies, nonprofits and other community organizations.

She formerly practiced law in Chicago, representing domestic and international clients in infrastructure finance and structured finance transactions in developing countries and emerging markets. Sujata managed negotiations, nurtured client relationships and, in the case of infrastructure financings, regularly worked with the engineers to evaluate the technical terms of financed projects.

She has also advised state and local governments on various public policy matters. Sujata served in the Kentucky Office of Health Policy under the administration of Governor Steven Beshear as director of a statewide health system transformation initiative to support value-based payment models and improved public health outcomes. Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer appointed her to the managing board of a major public utility during a period of organizational transition, where she could offer her professional judgment, analytical faculties and ability to forge common ground.
