The board of directors for DeKalb Health have selected Tasha Eicher as chief executive officer. Eicher succeeds Craig Polkow, who resigned from the position at the beginning of the year.

Eicher has served as interim CEO since Polkow’s departure. Her appointment makes her the first female to serve as CEO in the Auburn hospital’s 54-year history. She previously served as vice president of physician services, strategy and development for the hospital.

"Our board is very pleased to select Tasha as chief executive officer,” DeKalb Health Board Chair Doug Morrow said in a news release. "Tasha has led numerous strategic initiatives in her leadership role at DeKalb Health. We were impressed by Tasha’s expertise in both the not-for-profit and for-profit sectors of healthcare that includes all aspects of management, physician relations, fiscal and clinical operations, as well as her desire to lead in the continued success of DeKalb Health."

Before joining DeKalb Health, Eicher served as executive director of cardiovascular services at Lutheran Medical Group in Fort Wayne and chief operating officer at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee.
