More nonstop service to a key technology destination is coming to the Indianapolis International Airport. Frontier Airlines says it will begin a new flight to Austin, Texas April 10. The inaugural nonstop flight on Allegiant Air to the central Texas city launched last May and a seasonal nonstop on Southwest Airlines will take off for the first time two days before the new Frontier flight.

IND recently surpassed its nonstop flight record, now flying to 51 destinations. It offers 145 daily nonstop flights. Executive Director Mario Rodriguez says "a year ago, Austin was one of our top-five unserved markets, but with today's announcement, we have three airlines offering nonstop flights into Austin, giving travelers more direct access to the Central Texas region."

The Indy Airport is coming off a record year for passenger activity. Nearly 8.8 million passengers traveled through IND in 2017, a three percent increase over 2016.
