Methodist Sports Medicine has named Mark Ritter medical director of the Grand Park Events Center and outdoor fields on the 400-acre Grand Park sports campus in Westfield. He serves as Methodist Sports Medicine's president. Ritter will provide medical supervision oversight for all of the athletic events taking place at the Grand Park Events Center and the massive sports complex's outdoor multipurpose fields. In addition, he will be serving on-site for some tournaments.

Ritter will also be responsible for planning and directing all aspects of the organization's medical policies and procedures to ensure the safety of all athletes participating on Grand Park's campus. He will also develop clinical policies and procedures, treat athletes playing in the Events Center and on Grand Park's fields and facilitate with the city of Westfield's local public safety and emergency medicine personnel. Ritter will be involved with public safety discussions for Grand Park as well.  

He received his bachelor's degree from Luther College, where he was an all-star swimmer and captain and then went on to received his medical degree from the University of Iowa School of Medicine in 1999. Ritter completed both his orthopedic residency and orthopedic trauma fellowship at Brown University and then accepted a sports medicine and arthroscopy fellowship at the University of California in San Diego. He also serves as the team physician for the University of Indianapolis.

As part of the partnership between Methodist Sports Medicine and Grand Park, all local and national sporting events inside the Grand Park Events Center and on the outdoor fields are staffed by medical personnel from Methodist Sports Medicine.
