Potential Timeline Set For Reid Hospital Demolition
RICHMOND - Demolition of the former Reid Hospital in Richmond could begin shortly after the New Year. The Palladium-Item reports the Richmond Common Council must still approve ordinances allowing the city to accept two loans from the Indiana Brownfields Program for the project.
The loans would pay for remediation and demolition services, according to the publication. City Controller Beth Fields laid out a tentative timeline for the project Monday to council members, saying work could begin as early as January 2.
Earlier this year, the Richmond Redevelopment Commission approved a resolution that allows for tax increment financing funds to be used to offset costs for the project. The Pal-Item says that could raise between $7.7 million and $10 million.
The ordinances were approved on second reading by a vote of 6-2. A final vote is expected September 5.
